About Dino DiPerna

Dino is the Senior Vice President of Ciena’s Research and Development organization and leads a world-class team of over 3,500 engineers and scientists in labs across the globe.

Prior to joining Ciena in 2010, Dino led dedicated research and development teams for Nortel/BNR, driving innovative leadership in optical transport technology, resulting in the productization of the industry leading Coherent 40Gb/s and 100Gb/s DWDM network technology.

Dino is deeply passionate about the technology sector and the power of connectivity. With over three decades of experience in the field, he has been fortunate to lead and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry, pioneering innovative solutions and driving technological advancements. He is also an active supporter of STEM initiatives and believes that fostering an interest in STEM from a young age is crucial in preparing the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Outside of work, Dino is an avid music lover and enjoys an eclectic range of genres and styles and believes music is a universal language that transcends boundaries and brings people together. He is an avid sports fan (especially College Football). The strategic thinking, teamwork, and competitive spirit of the game are qualities that resonate with him on both a personal and professional level.

Dino has a degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University and has served on the Advisory Board of the Communications Research Center of Canada.
